I got all paint-angsty (that's totally a thing) last week, and so I painted this...as fast as I could (baby naps aren't too long).  I fully expected it to be a disaster, but I actually love it!

A little vacation was exactly what I needed! Now I'm ready to get back to work.  Maybe I'll post some trip photos later, but for now here's a view of one of my new favorite seaside cliffs. I walked pretty far out in the water to get this shot, my dress was not so dry afterwards, next time I'll remember a swimsuit.

The Summer's Hottest Day - Landscape Oil Painting - 12x12

Not a lot to say about this one, I was drawn to this scene because of the dark shadows in the trees, and the shadows on the otherwise very bright green grass. And that blueish building in the distance added a nice break in the green/white/yellow color scheme.

Carpinteria Campgrounds II - Landscape Oil Painting - 12x12

This is the larger version of yesterday's painting. I'm not completely satisfied with it, and I even did a few touch ups on it a few hours after I finished (something I never do). I think I only made things worse. The actual painting looks a lot better than this photo, it's cloudy today and for some reason I can't get a good shot of anything. I'm trying to paint a few more 12x12 pieces (the biggest size I have at the moment) so I'll actually have something to show at the end of May.
