Jet Boat Commission - 6x6

Oil on panel, 6x6 inches
Sold

I've had a lot of harbor scenes commissioned recently.  Which is just fine with me! It's one of my favorite subjects to paint.  And since I was hanging out on boats and what not yesterday I finally got to make use of my anchor shoes :)

Orange and Blue - 11x14

I did a smaller version of these tangerines before, and I decided try it out on a little bit larger format.

Eureka South Dakota II - Small Town Oil Painting - 6x12

It's been such a busy (and exciting) week.  Which explains why my postings have been a bit irregular.  With meetings and interviews and a new show going up I've gotten a little behind in actually photographing what I've been working on.  Hopefully I'll get back on track soon.  I'll have to! I just found out this week that I'll be having a solo exhibit at a gallery on State St. at the end of October (so much for relaxing a bit after a busy summer!).

And the opening reception for my current show is tomorrow (Saturday, August 27) from 6-8 pm.  Please stop by if you can! I'd love to see you! Click here for more information about it.

Eureka South Dakota - Landscape Oil Painting - 8x16

I've been meaning to paint this for a long time, over a year! And I really enjoyed the different subject matter, it was especially fun to paint that large blue sky.

Shadows in Front - 6x6

Couldn't resist this, I loved how these guys were lit from behind with their shadows falling in front of them.  I didn't even care that they were so confused at why I was snapping photos in their direction.

Cabrillo Palms II - 6x6

I had another go at this scene on my normal painting surface...a much different outcome.

In other news, I dropped off my paintings at the Palm Loft Gallery today! The opening reception is this Saturday (August 27, 2011) 6:00-8:00 pm, I'd love to see you there!  Click here for more info.

Cabrillo Palms - 6x12

I decided to try out these linen panels.  They're smoother than canvas panels, but have more texture than my usual gessobord panel (they're also more expensive).  I haven't decided if I like it or not yet, I'll need to paint a few more and see what happens.

Looking Down - 6x6

Sometimes I paint things because I'm not sure if I can pull it off. This is one of those times, so I'm really happy with the outcome!

Beach Balconies - 5x5

With the last few painting being as tight as they were (at least it felt that way to me) I wanted to do a couple that would loosen me up.  I'm going to liken it to stretching after a run.  This one was completed in about a quarter of the time that the other view of the same houses took.

Corner of 7th - 8x10

I ended up liking this painting more than I thought I would,  oddly enough the back of that stop sign is my very favorite part.

Miramar Balconies - 6x6

I'm going to have to make another trip out to Miramar beach very soon, and hopefully catch an amazing sunset, there's so much more I want to paint there.

Miramar Morning - 8x10

I knew I wanted to paint this scene, but it was a little bit awkward because there was a guy that kept standing on his patio in tiny underwear.  That's what I get for being out so early I guess.

Miramar Coastline - 8x16

My husband "claimed" this one, so we'll see if he lets me put it up for sale in the Palm Loft show later this month :)

Anapamu Morning - 5x7

I really liked the top of this church tower rising above the trees, with the sun shining on it just perfectly.

Miramar Umbrellas - 6x6

I can't believe I had never been to Miramar beach until recently.  It's definitely an intriguing place, and there will be more paintings of it to come...

Three Zucchini - Still life oil painting - 6x6

I'm sure that my husband is so tired of eating zucchini, but what can I do? It's in my farm box every week!

Safely Across - Original Oil Painting - 12x12

It's like this family was posing for me, or maybe they're just that picturesque all the time.  The great sunset light didn't hurt either :)
