Did you know?

Did you know I have an instagram? I do! It's where you can see what I'm working on throughout the day (not just when it's posted for sale).  Sometimes there are time lapse videos of my paintings, and also progress shots in the stories. Find me @sharon_schock_art 😊

Summerland - gouache

It was a challenge fitting so much in this little 4x6 painting, but there was so much that was inspiring, I couldn't cut it out.

Tracks on the Bluffs - gouache, 4x6

Happy that the bright colors stayed bright in this one, gouache gets darker as it dries, something I'm not used to while working in oil.

Can't believe I've never painted one of these, it was super fun, and my daughter was so happy about the "bird a dice" when she got home from school.

Spring Greens, Carpinteria - 12x12

Every year I fall in love with these first greens of spring.  I had to break out the cadmium green to capture this beautiful shade.

Streets of Rome - Gouache

Tried to stay fast and loose with this one, both because my toddler was waking up and because I didn't want to get hung up and all the details that go along with a subject like this.

I am also trying auctions once again, it's turning out to be pretty complicated on my end, but let me know what you think!

Studio Tour 2018

Thank you to everyone who came out for the studio tour today! It was a great turnout, and seventeen paintings sold! Hooray!  BUT there are still some gems leftover, including these (which are my favorites and I’m surprised they’re still here!) So even though the map says I’m open Saturday only  I’ve decided to open up the studio again tomorrow (Sunday) from 11-1! If you saw something you liked but didn’t grab it, now you have a second chance! I’ll just be hanging out and painting so feel free to stop by 😊 Thanks again to everyone who came today, it was so fun! Happy Mother’s Day!

Studio Tour THIS Saturday!

Hope to see you this Saturday! I've been working hard to get the studio ready for visitors this weekend.  Space is a challenge this year because my husbands new internet business is attacking the studio area! I'll make it work.

There's going to be tons of new stuff to see! New oils, new gouaches, I've been a painting machine lately! Come early if you're interested in something particular, the last couple years I've sold out of all the new stuff early in the day.

Carpinteria Palm Trees - 5x7

I've painted these palms before, but I'm finding it helpful to visit old subjects while practicing this new medium.

Introducing...Gouache in the shop!

I've been having so much fun working on these gouache paintings the last couple weeks.  And I'm excited to finally have them added to my shop! For those of you that don't know what gouache is, the easiest way of describing it is opaque watercolors. So you can get some of the same effects as watercolor, but also a build-able coverage like with oils.  These won't replace my oils for sure, but it's a nice option that I can work on at my kitchen table when I can't get to my studio.

This one in particular is so much cooler looking in person than it shows up on screen. It's painted on 300lb cold press watercolor paper, which is just my favorite for texture and the way it soaks up the paint.

Blue House, Monterey, CA - 8x10

It's been a really long time since I've painted one of these architectural pieces. I love doing them, but they ARE more time consuming (and studio time always seems too limited these days!)

Studio Tour!! Mark Your Calendar!

May 12th
That's the day to remember!

You are invited to come visit me and all the Carpinteria and Summerland artists. My studio will be open 10:00-5:00 Saturday only (because I love visiting other artists on Sunday, it's inspiring!)

**in the past the serious buyers come early, so if there's something you've got your eye one get here early!

The full brochure can be found here

There is also an opening reception for the tour this Friday, May 4, at the Palm Loft Gallery here in Carp, it starts at 5:00. I know it's a little confusing that the reception is a week before the tour, but it's a great opportunity to scout out which artists you like and plan your tour accordingly.
