From the Train IX - 8x10

The last in my train series.  From our stop in Lompoc, the ocean looked fierce here! I never want to go swimming in that water.  All the signs posted about shark attacks didn't help either. The colors were amazing though, and that's why I just had to paint it.

From the Train VIII - 6x6

The final painting in this little three piece set.  I think they look nice all together.

Leadbetter Cliff - 12x12

A little vacation was exactly what I needed! Now I'm ready to get back to work.  Maybe I'll post some trip photos later, but for now here's a view of one of my new favorite seaside cliffs. I walked pretty far out in the water to get this shot, my dress was not so dry afterwards, next time I'll remember a swimsuit.

Blue and White Stripes - 6x12

My husband saved me from an umbrella just like this one at the beach last weekend.  It had gotten a little windy and someone's umbrella had sprung loose, but for some reason the pointy end (not the umbrella part) was headed full speed at the back of my neck.  Luckily my husband is part jedi and caught it just inches before it hit me.  Thanks love :)

Sunday Sail - Daily Oil Painting - 6x6

I loved the contrast of this bright white sailboat against the deep blue ocean water.

Sandpipers - 6x12

I liked the silhouette these little sandpipers were making with the sun and water so bright behind them.

In other news, it's been SO windy here! This tree that I painted a while ago is no longer standing :(

Two Boats - Stearns Wharf Oil Painting - 5x5

I loved what a bright green color the water was underneath the wharf. And the bright white boats were charming.

I've been working on these little 5x5 paintings this week because I bought these great 5x5" frames last week. I thought they would be fun to bring to Carpinteria's first friday celebration tonight :)

The Monterey II - Seascape Oil Painting - 6x6

I don't know why it's been so hard for me to photograph these last two paintings...they're not as dark as the screen says they are. Luckily my friend Lindsey taught me lots of new camera tricks yesterday (yay!), maybe some of those will help.

I've been enjoying these little ocean scenes, it gave me a chance to try painting that sea green color. I discovered that viridian green was crucial for my palette :) And it can only get better with practice.
