Before the Tide - 8x10 Plein Air

Finished this piece just in time before the tide got me (but not before I got a sunburn!).  This was one of those paintings where I hated it the whole way through, until suddenly at the end I liked it.

February on the Bluffs - 8x10 Plein Air Painting

A bit of a unique situation of how this painting came to be, let's just say I felt a little more "watched" than normal,  and you'll be able to see photos of me painting it in the summer issue of Carpinteria Magazine :)

Central Coast Mountains - 8x10

I liked the softness of these colors offset by the bright pop of red in the flower field.

Carpinteria Cliffs - 6x12

I played with the surface a little before painting this piece.  I like the feeling of linen (because it's finer than canvas) but it's still a little too porous for my liking.  I prepped this one by applying a pretty thick coat of gesso with a palette knife. I really liked the result, maybe I'll try it with some old canvases I have lying around.

Bluffs Sunset - 5x7

I wanted to have another go at this scene, painting on canvas vs. panel makes a world of difference!
