Measured - 6x6

I've decided that everything cute in my kitchen should make its way into a painting, starting with this little measuring cup.

Halfed - 6x6

One more for the festival.  Finally discovered a brown background that I actually like.

The deadline for my solo show is rapidly approaching...I'm trying to stay calm while still painting as fast as I can.  My studio is going to be so empty when this show goes up!

Lemon Blue I - Still life oil painting - 6x6

I'm painting a lot of lemons this week, I guess I'm in a bright color mood :) I'm also getting excited for holiday craft fairs...brainstorming ideas to make my table cute, any suggestions?

Butternut and Fennel - Still Life Oil Painting - 6x6

The original title for this painting was going to be "Butternut and Leek" because that's what I meant to buy. The thing is I had never bought a leek before, I didn't really know what one looked like...so I trusted Albertson's when they told me that this fennel was a leek.

This is how cooking dinner went that night:
"Zach can you google how to chop a leek?" "wait, my leek looks nothing like that" "why does this smell like licorice?" "Zach can you google "vegetable that smells like licorice"?" ....and that's how we discovered it was actually a fennel. Zach laughed at me, and we learned something about vegetables. I'm glad we discovered it before I accidentally made licorice stew.

Red Pepper - Still life oil painting - 5x5

First Friday was last night, and it went pretty well :) I sold a couple of paintings, and got to hang out with fellow artist Kim Snyder , a local celebrity of sorts :) for good reason since her paintings are amazing!

The Expressive Avocado - Still Life Oil Painting - 6x6

I thought it would be fun to try a still life using the palette knife... the first photo is the finished painting and the one below it is how I started it out. I had a specific idea of how I wanted it to turn out, and I thought the best way to accomplish that would be by having a pretty good underpainting first. I don't really like leaving parts of the board exposed, and by painting it all in first I didn't have to try to do it with the knife.
